The Human Element, Handled with Care.

At South Marine Services, we recognize that a crew change is more than just logistics; it is about the safety and well-being of your most valuable asset—your people. We provide a fully integrated "Airport-to-Deck" solution, designed to minimize the stress of transit while maximizing operational speed.

We are officially affiliated with the Malaysian Immigration Department, allowing us to bypass bureaucratic bottlenecks. From issuing "OK-to-Board" letters to managing complex sign-on/sign-off procedures at Port Klang OPL (Off Port Limits), we ensure that your crew arrives on time and departs without delay. We manage the entire chain of custody, ensuring compliance, comfort, and security at every step.

As an affiliated partner with the Immigration Board, we expedite the processing of all necessary visas and permits. We handle the issuance of Letters of Guarantee (LG) and OK-to-Board verifications, ensuring your crew clears border control smoothly before they even board their flight.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What documents are absolutely required for a Sign-On?

To ensure a smooth process, we require a Valid Passport, Seaman Book, Flag COC (for Officers), the Crew Arrival Schedule, and a list of the vessel's last 10 ports of call. We will review these prior to arrival to prevent any immigration hold-ups.

Can you handle crew changes at OPL (Off Port Limits)?

Yes, this is a core part of our service. We coordinate launch boats for OPL transfers at Port Klang, allowing vessels to conduct crew changes without the time and cost of entering the port/berth, provided weather conditions allow.

Do you assist with "OK-to-Board" letters?

Yes. Once we receive the necessary flight and crew details, we interface with the relevant authorities to issue the "OK-to-Board" letter, ensuring your crew is allowed to board their flight to Malaysia without issues from the airline.

What happens if a crew member needs immediate medical attention?

We treat medical cases as critical emergencies. We arrange immediate transport from the vessel to the nearest hospital or clinic. We also handle the necessary notification to the Port Health Authority and keep the principal updated on the medical status.

How do you handle accommodation for layovers?

We have established relationships with a range of local hotels, from budget-friendly to premium options. We book accommodation based on the principal's budget and the crew's schedule, ensuring they have a safe place to rest between their flight and vessel transfer.
